Understanding each other may not always be so easy, because of that. So let me help understanding what\u2019s going here in Sgonico, Trieste, Italy, from labor point of view.<\/p>\n<p>There are a few assumptions that you should know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Constitution.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first article of our Constitution states: \u201cItaly is a democratic Republic, founded on labor\u201d. So I can say the the best definition of a company is \u201ca set of persons that with their work make a better society\u201d. In other words you cannot separate companies and society.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Labor Rights.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have a long story of fights for workers&#8217; labor rights and we keep it ongoing. We firmly believe that a worker is first of all a person; respect to him is due not only because it is ethically right, but because it is its own Right to be respected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Loyalty.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite some clich\u00e9 on latin lovers, we\u2019re loyal. Particularly if we talk about work. Persons want to stay in their company. It\u2019s often considered a second home. You know, even in hard times last December we decided to collect free offers to have the opportunity to celebrate together Xmas and the end of the year. And yes, we did it.<\/p>\n<p>These are just some of the reasons why we are committed defend our job.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Respect.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It worth to mention something about this, to understand why we\u2019re angry.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been informed with a smoky email that our job would not exist anymore. No one came to us and told that, explaining company\u2019s plans. Sorry, this is not respect.<\/p>\n<p>We have been told less than one month before that Connect (which is including CEL) would be at break even in 2026. Except Xmas vacation nothing happened in the middle. So it seems that decision was already taken. Sorry again, this is not respect.<\/p>\n<p>Now the most difficult to understand and accept, I know. I\u2019m sure that 99% of u-blox Italy employees have done their duty as expected. The remaining 1% (if exists) in any case cannot have such an impact to put company in trouble. So either someone else made these mistakes or is the \u201chard market rule\u201d. Assuming that only we ended in such kind of difficulties, the cause is some internal mistake, and, as we have heard in the last staff meeting, our CEO admitted he (and EC as well) mistook. So, there is no respect in asking someone to pay for errors made by others.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The sign in the picture says \u201cWork for parents\u2026 future for us (kids)\u201d.
